Being an Instrument of Praise and Glory

You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. 1 Peter 2:9-10

It was a Friday morning as I approached the front door of the woman’s shelter. Each week, I looked forward to my time to encourage the women, give them hope and share my heart for Jesus. But on this day, I entered for a higher purpose.

Actually, this particular Friday, I was met by the program director on the porch. She shared with me how one of the young ladies had had her baby but wasn’t able to be with her due to a health concern that might harm the baby. The director didn’t know what to do but the confidence and faith of this beautiful woman was strong. She had seen the hand of God meet needs at the shelter in ways they could have never of dreamed.

The baby needed a place to stay. I offered her a solution. My brother and sister-in-law had just become certified to care for a child 0-2 years old. Later that day, this precious little boy left the hospital in the safety of my sister-in-law’s arms.

Have you ever felt in a moment as things were unfolding that you are being used as an instrument of praise and glory? That is how I felt as God brought these families together and allowed love to unfold.

For many years, I’ve known my purpose to be “to extend love and courage to those around me” but I’ve see where I find purpose in connecting people too.

As I left the hospital that day, I was so full of God’s love and how he fulfills his purposes. I’m still in awe of how he does this.

You see for many years my sister-in-law desires were to have a boy not for her sake but I believe for her husbands – to pass on the family name, to raise up a strong man of God and maybe pass along the family business. After four beautiful girls, her doctors encouraged her not to continue.

That’s hard to swallow especially when your desire is still there. It might be selfish but what’s if it’s of God? He places those desires there for a time and reason.

My sister-in-law was born to be a mom. She cares deeply, sacrifices much and loves unconditionally. I believe that out of our obedience God blesses. This little boy is a blessing out of her obedience to the Father.

Now almost two years later, he is permanently part of our family as of August 10, 2017. Howe Awesome!!!

Yes, he is adopted and glory to God we have all experienced adoption as we have been reunified with the Father through the life-giving blood of Jesus.

We are all chosen to be his instruments – to accomplish his good work. We are no longer rejected but accepted and nothing can take that away from us.

I share this story with you because these kind of life events grow our faith and give us evidence of God’s goodness and greatness.

We must remind ourselves and others that God isn’t distant rather he is constant – constantly calling us to himself so we can be his instruments of praise and glory!

This is my prayer for you my sweet Henry Paul:

When I think of the wisdom and scope of his plan, I fall down on my knees and pray to the Father of all the great family of God 16 that out of his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you the mighty inner strengthening of his Holy Spirit. 17 And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; 18-19 and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself. Ephesians 3:14-19
